Summertime Gobblerfest 2009. Sand Dunes!

I thought we should start getting organized for our adventure to Arrakis, er... I mean the Sand Dunes...

Any ideas? I will be the first to admit that I am not the most accomplished camper. I may need advice.... and help with my tent.

I also had a little birdy whispering in my ear last night that we should try to do another camping trip later in the summer that involves backpacking and hiking in to our campsite. I'm all for it, but someone may need to carry me. (Just kidding). Any ideas on where to do this? Phantom Canyon anyone?

Back to the Dunes... Let's pop out some ideas on the blog for food, equipment lists, games in the sand, etc. I thought it might be fun to have storytelling by the fire.

Jenny, John and I do a lot of large group camping...we have a lot of ideas about what ends up being really useful. I have lists...I'll post them.

I have a folding table, good for putting a stove on.

I'll bring the family atomics.

Drew,

My secret squadron of Feydakin just destroyed your family atomics.

Bwahahaha! May Shai-hulud pick the flesh from your bones!

If the group gets big I suggest that we bring my carport for shade. It goes up in minutes and is 10'x20'.

Once, at a festival, some friends brought a second one and we strung a tarp between the two, which created a really nice 30'x20' shaded area.

What are the dates?

The dates are the 17th and 18th of June. I know you would have been there a couple weeks before Sue, but you can go again!!!

John,

I think the carport is a great idea! I too have a folding table and we can bring some folding chairs. Lauren's table and my table together, we should have adequate grubbing space.

FYI - There are more than sufficient picnic tables in the group sites... You could put the tarp over them and there would be no need to bring your own tables.
